In 1991, Ronald J.M.M. Does was appointed parttime professor, and since 1994 became fulltime Professor at the University of Amsterdam. From the beginning of the Eighties, he is publishing articles in various internationally and nationally renowned journals in the field of mathematical-, medical- and industrial statistics, psychometrics and quality care. Furthermore, he has been co-author of seven books in the field of industrial statistics. In the past years fourteen people have obtained their doctoral degree under his guidance and at present he is supervising three people who are preparing their thesis.
On May 1st, 1994, he founded the Institute for Business and Industrial Statistics (IBIS UvA). As managing director of IBIS UvA he has worked and is working for a number of large organizations, such as Achmea Pensioen, ASM Lithography, Canisius Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis, DAF Trucks, Douwe Egberts, Fokker Aerostructures, Philips, Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis, Stork, Thales, Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen and Zwitserleven.
In 2008, he received the William G. Hunter Award from the Statistics Division of the ASQ. He is internationally active in the ASQ, ENBIS and ISBIS. Furthermore, he is a member of the International Academy for Quality and editorial board member of Quality Engineering, International Journal of Lean Six Sigma and Quality Technology & Quantitative Management.
