Dr. Marit SchoonhovenIn September 2007, Marit joined IBIS UvA, after obtaining her MSc in Business Mathematics and Informatics (with honours) from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, and spending two years in the Corporate Credit Risk Management department at ING. There she was responsible for the development of various credit risk models.

At IBIS UvA, Marit is responsible for organizing and providing Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt courses. She coaches participants when they execute a quality improvement project as part of their training. She finds the greatest challenge in translating the Lean Six Sigma methodology to the day-to-day practise of every participant. Previous and current clients include Zwitserleven, AEGON, Deventer Ziekenhuis, Reinier de Graaf Groep, Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht, Rivas Zorggroep.

Furthermore, Marit is conducting research for the University of Amsterdam, in the field of control charts, a statistical technique within Lean Six Sigma. Her research work is published regularly in international professional journals such as Journal of Quality Technology and Technometrics. In November 2011, she finished her thesis entitled Estimation Methods for Statistical Process Control, which she defended successfully.
